Devolved Government (DG) is the decentralisation of power in housing-related decisions from the UK government to the individual nations and regions of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is a system of government which gives each nation and region the autonomy to create their own policies, programmes and spending priorities to meet the needs of their citizens. The purpose of DG is to ensure that local communities have more control and input into decisions about housing in their areas. The scope of DG covers all aspects of housing, such as social housing, private renting, homelessness and home ownership. It also includes the regulation of property prices and the provision of affordable housing. DG is part of a broader devolution agenda, which seeks to promote local economic development and democratic representation.
