A Tenancy Relations Officer (TRO) is a professional employed by a local housing authority or other housing provider in the United Kingdom to manage and improve the relationship between the provider and their tenants. The purpose of a TRO is to provide advice and assistance to tenants regarding their housing issues, help resolve conflict between tenants and landlords, and help ensure that the housing service provided meets the needs of tenants. The scope of a TRO covers a wide range of housing issues, including repairs, rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, and other housing-related matters. A TRO also has a duty of care to ensure that tenants are not subject to discrimination or harassment, and that the tenant’s right to peaceful enjoyment of their home is respected. A TRO may also offer advice to tenants on how to manage their finances, how to access benefits, and how to access support services.
