Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) is a UK Government benefit that provides financial assistance to individuals who are unemployed, actively seeking employment and have limited other sources of income. It is administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The purpose of JSA is to provide support to those who are in need and to enable them to maintain a reasonable standard of living while they look for work. It is available to individuals aged 18 or over who are not in full-time education, are not self-employed and who have limited alternative sources of income. In terms of UK housing, JSA can be used towards rent payments or to help cover the costs of moving into a new home. JSA can also be used to cover the costs of housing related services, such as gas, electricity, water bills and council tax.
